Advanced EMDR Consultation
Advanced EMDR Consultation Overview
The purpose of this program is to provide structured consultation, clinical support, and professional development for clinicians trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The program will support clinicians in strengthening EMDR competency, increasing fidelity to the EMDR model, and progressing toward EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) certification when applicable.
This initiative aims to expand access to high-quality trauma-focused treatment services by increasing clinician confidence, retention, and utilization of EMDR in clinical practice.
In addition to other requirements, EMDRIA Therapist Certification requires clinicians to complete 20 hours of consultation by an EMDRIA approved consultant. At least 10 of these hours must be individual. The remaining 10 hours may be group consultation. Visit EMDRIA.org for further details about EMDR therapist certification requirements.
The consultation program is intended for clinicians pursuing EMDRIA Therapist Certification who have completed an EMDRIA approved EMDR Basic Training and have a professional mental health therapist license in New Mexico.
Cohort Dates
Enrollment for each cohort is limited to ensure an optimal consultation experience. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis so early submission is highly encouraged.
There are two cohorts available for applicants to select from. If there is a date within your selected cohort that you are unable to attend, please notify the corresponding EMDR trainer to discuss available accommodations. If the current cohort offerings conflict with your schedule, new cohort opportunities will be added in the near future to accommodate participant scheduling needs.
The cohorts are scheduled as follows:
Cohort 1 - Sarah Penn, LPCC
Cohort 2 - Susan Messal, LPCC
