SEEKING QUALIFIED TRAINERS!
The Center of Innovation for Behavioral Health and Wellbeing at New Mexico State University is looking to grow our training team! We are looking for already certified trainers, people with lived experience, as well as people committed to getting certified to train in order to provide trainings throughout the State.
Have you provided crisis response/stabilization to youth and families for a minimum of 6 months?
Do you have real world experience working in the community to support families when they are in their self-defined time of crisis?
Do you have lived experience navigating child and family serving systems such as child welfare, foster care, juvenile justice, or behavioral health services?
Do you have a clinical background, particularly in clinical supervision?
Are you certified in other training topics, such as trauma trainings or other than what is listed, that you think would be valuable to add to our training team?

Adult Mental Health First Aid*
Trainers must already be certified in Adult Mental Health First Aid by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and must be able to commit to providing the 4.5-6-hour curriculum (dependent on pre-work) in-person or virtually as requested. Adult Mental Health First Aid is a training that equips individuals with the skills to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in adults, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
Clinical Reasoning & Case Formulation
Family Peer Support
Trainers for the Family Peer Support Program should already be a Certified Family Peer Support Worker in New Mexico and have real-world experience working as a Family Peer or a related Family/Parent Support role in New Mexico. Those who are not certified in New Mexico may apply if they have similar experience in another state and/or meet the lived experience criteria as being a parent or primary caregiver who has navigated systems on behalf of their child and could become certified prior to attending a Train-the-Trainer course. These trainings are offered virtually and in-person, so trainers selected must have access to a computer and adequate internet connectivity (those in the Las Cruces area may use the NMSU-COI office). Those selected will attend a Train-the-Trainer Certification Course with the curriculum developers and must be able to commit to providing the 40-hour curriculum at least two times each year.

Clinical Supervision Skills & Ethics Training
Trainers for supervision skills should be able to contribute to the education and skill development of clinical supervisors and to expand the ethical practice of licensed professionals in community settings. We are seeking trainers who already have pre-developed curricula and can deliver comprehensive training on either Clinical Supervision Enhancement - curricula geared toward practicing clinical supervisors who want to improve their supervision skills - and/or Ethical Practice - a 6-hour training geared towards ethical practice in community behavioral health and congregate care settings.
The Nurtured Heart Approach*
Trainers for the Introduction to the Nurtured Heart Approach should be certified as a Nurtured Heart Approach Instructor by the Nurtured Heart Institute (NHI) and preferably have real-world experience training the curriculum in New Mexico. Introduction to the Nurtured Heart Approach is a 6-hour training that helps to grow connection, clarity, and inner wealth in the personal and professional lives and relationships of the attendees.

Trainers must already be certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid and must be able to commit to providing the 4.5-6-hour curriculum (dependent on pre-work) in-person or virtually as requested. Youth Mental Health First Aid is a training that introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
*Must already be certified in these training topics.

Approved applicants will participate in a Train-the-Trainer and then be eligible for contracts to provide training with the Center of Innovation training team for behavioral health professionals throughout the State. Many programs are overseen and delivered in partnership with the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department.
