Training Description

The Nurtured Heart Approach is a trauma-informed, relationship-based model that consists of 3 Stands™: Absolute No, Absolute Yes, and Absolute Clarity. The approach empowers children and adults to direct their emotional and intellectual intensity towards achievement and self-actualization. During this 6-hour PAID two-day virtual training, participants will learn to use the Nurtured Heart Approach to grow connection and clarity in their personal and professional relationships.

This training is open for anyone to attend

Cost to Attend

There is a $75 registration fee to attend the training. Registration is not confirmed until full payment is received.

Cancellations for paid trainings require registrants cancel 5 business days prior to the start of the training to receive full refund (minus 2.85% service fee, if paid by credit card).

Cancellations received after 5 business days prior to the start of the training are subject to partial or no reimbursement of registration fees.

Donna Lucero, MA, LPCC, NCC, IMH-E, IECMHC, Journeys Inc.

Trainer Bio:

Donna Lucero, a native New Mexican born and raised in Albuquerque, is a licensed clinical counselor and educator with over 30 years of experience supporting children and families impacted by trauma, mental health challenges, and adversity. She holds a BA in Psychology and an MA in Counseling from the University of New Mexico and is near completion of a second Master’s in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies with a certificate in Race and Social Justice. Donna has trained over 10,000 professionals through workshops and conferences, emphasizing trauma-informed care and healthy brain development in early childhood. Her work integrates research-based approaches such as the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, Circle of Security, and Nurturing Parenting, among others. She is committed to promoting healing and resilience through relationships, movement, nature, music, and community support. With more than two decades of experience in clinical supervision, she has mentored numerous therapists in trauma-sensitive practices. Donna currently serves as a graduate-level instructor in the Counseling Department at the University of New Mexico.

The approach aims to build Inner Wealth ™ in children and youth and resiliency by teaching how to:

  • Emphasize an individual’s agency to choose to give less energy and relationship to negative emotions, thought patterns, and circumstances.
  • Invest more energy and relationship into their own strengths and success and the strengths and success of others.
  • Encourage reflection and communication around perceptions, expectations, and limits.
  • Practice 'resetting' and emotional regulation.
  • Set clear limits with youth with behavioral challenges.
