Participants are highly encouraged to attend both Part 1 and 2 but have the option to only attend one.

Part 1 – The Impact of Trauma on Your Child's Brain, Body and Lens Through Which They See the World

Training Dates: June 17, 2025 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM OR June 18, 2025 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

This 2-hour FREE virtual training is designed to provide education for resource/foster parents so they can be better prepared for and understand the trauma impacted youth’s perspective, behaviors and struggles.

Part 2 – The Importance of Emotional Regulation for the Parent and the Child and Key De-escalation Strategies

Training Dates: June 24, 2025 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM OR June 25, 2025 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Building upon the brain science in Part 1, this 2-hour FREE virtual training is designed to provide education for resource/foster parent so they can be better prepared for and understand the trauma impacted youth’s perspective, behaviors and struggles.

Trainer: Frank Picone, LCSW, The Institute of CGE

Frank Picone brings over 30 years of experience in trauma-attuned care across residential treatment programs, schools, and juvenile justice systems nationwide. He holds a master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University and is a licensed clinical social worker, certified school social worker, and advanced trainer in the Nurtured Heart Approach. Mr. Picone has held leadership roles as a therapist, clinical supervisor, COO, and executive director at two large residential treatment centers for at-risk youth. He also directed the Placement Services Unit for New Jersey’s Children’s System of Care, overseeing treatment for high-needs youth. At Rutgers, he contributed to a SAMHSA-funded initiative to make CSOC trauma-informed and reduce seclusion and restraint. For the past 20 years, he has led “Positive Culture Change,” offering nationwide training and consultation on leadership, workforce development, and trauma-informed practices.
