Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)
Training Description
The Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper training is a suicide-prevention training broken down into three segments: question, persuade, and refer.
This FREE 2-hour virtual training focuses on youth suicide and is for professionals who work with youth and their families. Materials are provided by the QPR Institute and participants who complete the gatekeeper training obtain a certificate of completion.

Enas Khaleq, MA, Certfied QPR Gatekeeper Instructor, Center of Innovation for Behavioral Health and Wellbeing
Trainer Bio:
Enas Khaleq develops and trains curriculum that accurately represent the culture, strengths, and needs of New Mexico children and families. They are a suicide prevention and crisis response educator and are certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid. Enas is a Palestinian refugee displaced by Israeli violence in 2006. Their work is rooted in justice and the empowerment of young people, queer people, and the BIPOC population. Enas also supports the work of COI staff and graduate students.
Learning Objectives
Gatekeepers in training will learn to reduce suicide attempts by:
- Questioning young people about suicidal intention/plan
- Persuading a young person to live
- Referring young people to services
