System of Care

  1. System of Care

What is the System of Care?

A system of care is not a specific type of program or service. Instead, it is an approach that combines a broad range of services, supports, and stakeholders into operating under the same guiding principles. The system of care approach seeks to organize services and stakeholders in responding to the behavioral needs of communities in a coordinated manner.

Incorporating community members in the System of Care approach and initiative is a key objective. Youth and family voices are a core value in the System of Care model which requires mutual respect and meaningful partnership between families, young people, and professionals at all levels to encourage involvement.

System of Care is a set of values and principles providing an organizing framework for systems reform on behalf of children, youth, and their families.
