Commercial Sexual Exploitation – Identification Tool (CSE-IT)

  1. Training & Certification Access
  2. Commercial Sexual Exploitation - Identification Tool (CSE-IT)

What is CSE-IT?

The Commercial Sexual Exploitation-Identification Tool (CSE-IT, pronounced “see it”) was developed by WestCoast Children's Clinic in Oakland, California and is designed to improve early identification of children who are commercially sexually exploited. The tool is appropriate for use by any provider serving youth which includes child welfare workers, probation officers, mental health clinicians, and first responders.

CSE-IT Certification Steps

Step 1

Request Access to eCourse

Requests to access the CSE-IT eCourse need to be submitted by the end of the month in order to be enrolled in the next month's training cohort.

The eCourse invitation will be sent to the email address provided in the participant's request submission.

Step 2

Approval of Request

Requests are reviewed by the Center of Innovation for approval. Registrant must be employed with a CYFD contracted provider agency to receive access to the eCourse.

Individuals only have to complete the eCourse once for certification. A request will be declined if a registrant has already received certification in the course.

Step 3

eCourse Invitation

Following approval, access to the eCourse will be provided to participants by WestCoast Children's Clinic. An email containing an invitation to access the online course will be sent to participants on the first of their cohort month.

The eCourse invitation will be sent to the email address provided by the participant from their eCourse request submission.

Step 4

Certification Timeframe

Approved individuals will have their full cohort month to complete the eCourse. It is self-paced and typically takes 3 - 4 hours to complete. Access to complete the course and become fully certified ends at 11:59 PM PST of the last day of the cohort month.

If the eCourse is not completed by the end of the month, all progress will be lost and course access cannot be extended beyond the cohort month. A new request to access the eCourse must be submitted to be enrolled in the next available cohort.

If you are a newly contracted CYFD shelter needing staff certified in using CSE-IT, contact us to begin the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) process.
